Back from a LONG Hiatus!

Happy Saturday Everyone!

I'm back from an extremely long hiatus!  I apologize to all of you wonderful followers on my blog slacking.  Life has been BONKERS!  My husband's travel schedule was insane to say the least and life as a single working mom when he travels is exhausting!!!  We are almost done with this school year (only 1 1/2 days to go with the children) and I'm extremely bummed out!  I have LOVED my class this year!  They will always have a piece of my heart!  I haven't counted down the days until summer because I'm not ready to let them go to middle school! :(  Don't get me wrong...I'm super pumped about summer time with my own little nugget, but I wish I could keep the same class next year!  They are incredible!  Since I last blogged, I've set up an Instagram account and would love any followers (click on the button at the top right of the page to follow me).  I'm thinking it will be easier to show what's going on more quickly than the blog on occasion as well as provide a window into what I do when I'm not in the classroom. ;)

I leave you today with a picture of our family from April and an easy/quick classroom behavior management idea inspired from a Pinterest post.  More frequent posts to come!  Enjoy the weekend! :))

Our first family photo session since the newborn/family session 2 1/2 years ago!  The loves of my life! :))

Paint bucket from Michaels stocked with fun writing tools for students to use when they are working quietly and are on task.  The bucket has gel pens, erasable colored pencils, sparkly crayons,  and sharpies.  I go to students demonstrating desired behaviors and ask if they want to "trade" their pencil for one of my writing tools.  Of course they ALWAYS say yes and they get to use the chosen tool for the rest of the day.  If they get off task, then I trade them back and the tool is lost for the day.  At the end of the day all children return my supplies back to the bucket and we start over the next day!  It's AMAZING what they will do to use "teacher writing tools".

Week 12 CCSS Spiraling Morning Work Freebie

Happy Tuesday Night Dedicated Followers!

It's been over a month since I last blogged...my husband's travel schedule has been INSANE and there hasn't been any extra time to blog.  I promise to make up for it in the coming weeks.  Below is the 12th edition of the the morning work freebie.  You can click on the picture to grab your copy.  I'm thinking it's error free (checked over it several times), but if you find something that is a typo, please email me so I can make the correction and relink it up for everyone.  I do the best I can as I create these, but I am human and errors can happen.  Enjoy the rest of your week!  Until next time....

Week 11 CCSS Morning Work Spiral Review Freebie

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I've finally created week 11 of the 5th grade spiral review common core morning work freebie.  You can grab your copy by clicking the picture below.  Oh, and if you ever see a typo or something needing to be corrected, please reach out to me.

I'm a busy mom of a two year old with a traveling husband (basically I'm not perfect) so errors can happen.  I do triple check the work before posting, but after a while everything becomes a blur. ;)  Have a fabulous week until next time! :)))

Point of View Foldable

Happy Thursday Night!

I've been wanting to share this with you for quite some time; however, there is never enough time in the day...until today that is!  Below are pictures of a point of view foldable we made in our class.  Every week with our Shared Reading I ask students to identify the point of view the passage is being told from and defend their answers using evidence from the text.

I've used notes, thinking maps, and graphic organizers in the past to drive home the abstract idea of point of view and nothing has worked until now.  This foldable has been the most valuable tool my kids have used to help solidify understanding of point of view.  I don't have a printable of the inserts.  I make my students do their own writing to have more accountability in the information.  I hope you can use this idea with your class.  Comment if you need a better close up of the information to put inside the foldable.  Happy almost Friday!

After a Month Long Hiatus, I'm Back!

Freebie Fridays

Happy Friday Everyone!

Happy New Year!  Wow!  I can't believe I've been out of the blogging world for exactly one month now.  It definitely wasn't a planned hiatus, but life took over so the blog was pushed to the side.  December is such a crazy month because of Christmas and our little nugget's birthday!  We had parties and family keeping us busy until this week.  I was finally able to get some more morning work done for you.  So sorry for the delays, but my resolution this year is to get back on track with at least one weekly blog entry/freebie for you all.  You can grab Volume 8 of the morning work freebie by clicking the picture below.  I'm now going to get Volume 9 started while our little nugget sleeps.  Have a fantastic weekend and leave a comment if you download please!  I love hearing from everyone! :))))
